Alexandra (Ally) Saltonstall has been an equine enthusiast for as long as she can remember. Having grown up in Northern New Jersey she was given the opportunity to see the world's best equestrian athletes perform at the USET Foundation Headquarters in Gladstone, NJ. As a child, she would spend most her days dreaming of becoming one of those athletes and owning her own farm.
Starting in the hunter/equitation circuit, Alexandra spent many of her childhood summers showing in local rated shows until she got to college. Her first year of college was spent at Sacred Heart University where she rode for their Division 1 Equestrian Team in the Open Divisions. In her second year of college, Alexandra transferred to Ithaca College where she would continue to ride and learn on her own horse, Mikey. Alexandra, Graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor Degree in Recreation Management as well as a Masters Degree in Sports Management. Post college she attended the Finger Lakes School of Massage to receive her License in Massage therapy.
In 2010, Alexandra purchased her property and founded Sweet Reverie Farm and Wellness. During the past 10 years her focus from the hunter/equitation discipline transitioned into seeking a more serious career in Dressage. Alexandra has devoted much of her time and resources to learning from top trainers such as Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel, Betsy Steiner, Kimberley Dougherty, Gina Smith, JJ Tate, Gary Rockwell, Carol Kozlowski, and more. Alexandra believes you must never stop learning in order to teach effectively. She prides herself on her desire to improve and continues to lesson on a regular basis so that she can be the best version of herself for her horses and her students.
Alexandra is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist working towards her Gold and freestyle scores. She is currently training her 8 year old Lusitano gelding, Luxor. He is a smaller horse with a BIG personality, and he is teaching her a lot!
Alexandra's teaching style focuses on giving her students the tools to confidently assess their own body mechanics and how they correlate with each horse's movements. She believes it is important to build a strong foundation so that her students can continuously grow and enhance their skills.
